An Initiative to Support Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
As part of its ongoing efforts to raise health awareness and reduce the spread of chronic diseases, Egypt Without Disease Foundation continues its awareness initiatives on Type 2 Diabetes, aiming to support patients through awareness, early screening, treatment, and continuous follow-up.
This step comes as an extension of the foundation’s successful health campaigns that have reached thousands of citizens across different governorates in Egypt
Diabetes: A Silent Expanding Epidemic
Diabetes is among the most common chronic diseases worldwide.According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), over 589 million people are living with diabetes globally including 85 million in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This number is projected to rise to 163 million by 2050.
In Egypt (2024), the situation is particularly concerning:
The adult population exceeds 66.6 million people.
The prevalence of diabetes among adults has reached 22.4%.
This equals more than 13.2 million Egyptians living with diabetes.
These alarming figures place Egypt among the countries with the highest diabetes rates, making awareness and early screening a national necessity, not merely a health option.
Awareness and health initiatives in Aswan
were implemented during July and October 2025 in Aswan, offering a variety of programs for refugees, including:
- Health awareness lectures covering a range of topics that affect refugees’ daily lives, health, and overall well-being.
- Medical screenings and consultations provided through the foundation’s mobile clinics and healthcare centers.
